Training day for first Powerchair tournament this weekend
Hereward takes a huge step towards becoming a Powerchair sport hub with our first tournament this weekend in Liverpool.
Last week learners took part in a training day to try out specialist Powerchairs, exploring the basics of chair operation through simple drills, building confidence and curiosity around this exciting sport.
Thanks to the support of our fantastic partners Greenbank and Sky Blues in the Community the college will now run Powerchair sport sessions during the week for learners, while Sky Blues will lead open community sessions every Thursday from 5.30pm to 7pm, welcoming players from across the region to get involved.
We’re also gearing up for our first team tournament this weekend – a huge milestone in our journey to becoming a Powerchair sport hub!
We’d like to thank Greenbank for their coaching and equipment loan, Sky Blues in the Community for their partnership and leadership in delivery and our brilliant care team and staff for making the day safe, inclusive and fun.
Together, we’re laying the foundations for a thriving Powerchair sport programme where learners can grow through movement, teamwork, and leadership.
