Media students captured on camera during studio visit

Level 3 Media learners visited Capture Studios in Tamworth to learn about production processes in a professional studio.

Part of the global Inspired Thinking Group, Capture Studios is a creative production house which specialises in high-end product photography, film and virtual production for brands requiring commercial, lifestyle and product-focused output.

The studio produces content from the initial idea to the finished product for clients ranging from Subway and Costa to Morgan Motor Company and Moonpig.

Learners were welcomed into the impressive client lounge before being shown around the different areas of the studio, observing professional practice and getting an insight into the manic behind the photographs we see in everyday life.

In the main studio there were a number of sets that had been constructed for Christmas 2026 shoots and for menu products for a well-known brand.

There was also the infinity cove, where vehicle and large products are shot, and the automated product and fashion photography studios where they specialise in product photography for online stores.

The standout feature was the multi-million-pound TV and virtual production studio where leaners got to experience using the camera and understand how the background, side and top screen were powered by real-time 3D creation tool Unreal Engine.

Job Coach Lucy Wake said: "A huge thank you to David and the team at Capture Studios for taking the time out of their busy schedules to show us around and giving us such an insightful tour. We truly appreciated learning about the different roles within the studio and gaining a deeper understanding of all the creative work that happens there. It is an incredible set up."

Ian Silvester, Deputy Curriculum Manager and Media Lead, added: "Capture Studios were perfect hosts and took the time to give the learners an amazing tour and made us all feel at home. Our host David was really engaging – explaining their processes from concept to product, the roles involved in shoots and how the equipment worked. Everyone really enjoyed the visit and the experience of seeing behind the scenes in a professional working environment."

L3 media learner Ryan also gave his verdict on the visit. He said: "What I enjoyed the most was seeing the work process of the studio - it was amazing to see. I enjoyed the environment - it was so co-friendly. Everyone giving us a tour around the studio was so kind and respectful towards us. I also enjoyed trying the equipment - I was nervous about trying but I still give it a go with the support of Miles, who was great."
