HS2 visit inspires fast track into the world of work
Students looking for a fast track into the world of work enjoyed a behind-the-scenes visit to the HS2 construction site in Oxfordshire on Thursday.
Our 18 students were invited by EKFB (the Eiffage, Kier, Ferrovial Construction and BAM Nuttall joint venture responsible for constructing a 50-mile section of the high speed route) to its construction site near Bicester.
They were among 2,000 schools and college students who took part in EKFB’s third annual ‘Making Tracks into Construction’ event last week.
The interactive event included simulators and 25 exhibits hosted by HS2’s supply chain partners, including Flannery, GAP and Ferrovial Construction. Experts from a range of job roles, including geology and safety, were also on hand to speak to students about careers and pathways into construction.
Hereward College would like to thank Victoria Hingley and Becky Rowley from EKFB for helping to organise the trip; we have an exciting STEM packed year of events with EKFB coming up.
