Former college principal appointed Chair of Hereward College Corporation

A highly experienced retired college principal has joined Hereward College as Chair of the College Corporation.

George Trow spent almost 15 years as a Principal and Chief Executive of two large general further education colleges – Rotherham College from 2002 to 2010 then Doncaster College from 2010 to 2015.

George said: “I’m very proud to have been appointed to join the board of this specialist college at such an exciting phase, with lots of ongoing developments to further improve the campus. 

“The work carried out by the passionate staff at the college is truly transformational for students, which is clearly a huge motivator for everyone involved at Hereward. I’m looking forward to working with colleagues on the board and the wider workforce to help drive our future, continued success.”

George, who lives locally, had previously been a head of department at the former Henley College in Coventry and also taught at colleges in Birmingham, Cheshire and Northampton following his earlier career working in the hospitality industry.

He also has extensive boardroom experience in further education, having served as a national board member and audit committee vice-chair at the Association of Colleges and as a governor, audit committee chair and vice chair of the corporation at Coventry College.

Other voluntary roles have included being a board member of the Shadow National Growth Board at the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills and Deputy Lieutenant of South Yorkshire.
