Busy start to 2026 for job coaches and students

From equine dentistry to customer service to public utilities, it’s been a busy start to 2026 for our students and job coaches.

We have had a lovely visit to the Riding for the Disabled Association national training centre in Shrewley (thankfully missing the snow!)

Students got stuck into different duties around the yard and got the chance to see an equine dentist looking after the horses’ teeth. Each of the students learnt new skills and met the lovely horse Erin.

Two Discovery IT students started work experience on the college’s reception desk alongside our very own Val and Natalie. They are spending one hour per week this term learning the different duties involved with the reception role and developing skills for the future.

Back on the road, IT students visited employer Severn Trent for a tour of the premises with one of the managers to meet our intern Michelle.

They also heard from one of the graduates who showed them how each job role in the company interlinks with everything Severn Trent do and a map showing all the pipes and reservoirs in the region. Students also learnt where our water comes from – Elan Valley in Wales.

It’s been a great few weeks!
