About
Hereward College provides study programmes, learning experiences and award-winning work placement opportunities for young people aged 16 to 25 with complex disabilities and learning difficulties.
We specialise in supporting day and residential learners who have a range of needs including autism, physical difficulties, profound and multiple learning difficulties and complex disabilities at our purpose-built campus in Tile Hill, Coventry.
A pathway approach to learning ensures that all levels are catered for, with a personalised programme of study developed to help learners achieve their goals. Course levels range from Pre-Entry up to Level 3, with English and maths included in all programmes and a focus on employability and enterprise.
A Learning for Life sensory group is specifically aimed at students with profound and multiple learning difficulties, while for learners with more complex needs our individualised and targeted intervention programme Aspire is supported by highly skilled experts.
Hereward also has a number of longstanding partnerships with regional and national employers, enabling us to offer supported internship programmes which often lead to full-time paid employment on successful completion.
A range of additional support is available to students to ensure their journey through college runs as smoothly as possible. Learners can access speech and language therapy, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, social and emotional support, nursing support and independent learning support.
Leaders ensure that learners with high needs are effectively supported, through a range of strategies to transition into and out of the college. They ensure that transition activities support learners towards their next steps, including sustainable employment, independent or supported living.Subsequently, a high proportion of learners who are able, progress into sustainable employment.”
