What our learners say
Josh came to Hereward with a passion for sport and studied at Level 2 and 3. He initially had classroom support to help him manage his autism and anxiety but as his confidence grew, was able to work more independently and achieved top grades.
A keen swimmer, Josh took advantage of the regular work placements on offer. He experienced the role of lifeguard, gym instructor, reception and duty manager which helped develop the practical and personal skills required to work in the industry.
At the end of his final year placement Josh was offered the position of recreation attendant and lifeguard at the Alan Higgs Centre in Coventry.
Josh says:
"I set out to get a job in the sports industry that would allow me to continue with my training and competitions. I achieved my goal and have paid employment at a site with an Olympic sized pool. I absolutely love my job and the poeple I work with."
