Discovery Pathway (Level 2 and Level 3)
On the Discovery Pathway learners specialise in a chosen subject and follow a qualification based curriculum that includes practical work, course work and external assessments.

Vocational courses include business, IT, media, performing arts, music, art, and sport, and have an industry focus linking to enterprise projects with local organisations and volunteering in the community.

Learners also take part in a non-accredited Personal Development, Behaviour & Welfare programme where topics such as financial health, physical and emotional wellbeing, safeguarding and prevent as well as sessions on independent living and preparing for adult life.

WHAT WILL I STUDY?

Programmes at Level 2 or Level 3:
You will study a main vocational course, English and maths (if not achieved grade C or 4), Personal Development Behaviour & Welfare and independent living skills. You will meet regularly with your Progress Coach and access regular work related activities or work experience with a designated Job Coach.

  • BTEC First Certificate & Diploma in Business
  • BTEC First Certificate & Diploma in Creative Digital Media
  • BTEC First Certificate & Diploma in Information and Creative Technology
  • BTEC First Certificate in Music
  • BTEC First Certificate & Diploma in Sport
  • UAL Level 2 Award and Diploma in Performing & Production Arts
Courses taken at Level 3 will include a Subsidiary Diploma and Extended Diploma

Programmes with work placements:
You will study a condensed vocational qualification alongside a work placement, English and maths (if not achieved grade C or 4), the Personal Development Behaviour & Welfare programme and independent living skills.

Work related study programme:
You will do a substantial work placement and continue to study English, maths, a customer service qualification and Personal Development Behaviour & Welfare. This study programme is ideal for those wishing to go on to a Supported Internship but may need more support transitioning from College to an external employer.


WHAT CAN I DO AFTER COMPLETING THE PROGRAMME?

Learners on the Discovery Pathway Level 2 study programmes go on to study at Level 3, a Supported Internship, paid work, an apprenticeship or do a work related study programme. Those taking part in the Level 3 study programme go on to further or higher education courses, a Supported Internship, paid work or apprenticeships. Some Discovery learners have also applied to the The Prince’s Trust and have started their own businesses.
We have extensive partnerships with employers and an expanding supported internship study programme.
