Develop the vocational work and life skills now required in the modern hospitality industry
Hereward College is now offering a new Introduction to Hospitality BTEC course specifically aimed at those interested in pursuing careers in the hospitality industries.
The two year funded course is aimed at Entry Level 3 and Level 1 learners (not yet working towards GCSE A-C) and offers ‘taster’ qualifications which focus on the personal qualities and work skills that are required in the modern hospitality industry.
These BTEC qualifications are designed to enhance learners’ work and life skills in a range of vocational contexts. The course is aimed at diverse range of learners who are age 19 plus and have additional support needs.
The qualification opens up a number of progression opportunities through Hereward’s employment programmes and will support some of the skills needed for independent living. It is also ideal as a basis for those wishing to go on to develop further qualifications in this sector.
BTEC Award/Certificate: Introduction to the Hospitality Industry
Learners can chose to take an Award in the first year and progress onto the Certificate in year two. Subjects covered include:

- Using Kitchen Equipment
- Introduction to Food Commodities

- Front Office Operations
- Food Safety in Catering
