Hereward Savvy Savers support Christmas charities The Savvy Savers student group at Hereward College have been raising money for local charity groups that work to support the community, especially around Christmas time.
The college group was set up in conjunction with the Money for Life Challenge, run by Lloyds Banking Group, which is a personal money management programme, aimed at improving the knowledge, confidence and skills of communities around the UK to help people to manage their money better. The Savvy Saver s were the UK People Prize Winners after establishing a credit collection point.
Not stopping at one project, the group is continuing to run and have been collecting food from staff and peers all a round the college. The produce they collected was sold at Herewards’ recent enterprise and employability fayre, which showcased entrepreneurial skills from around the college. The money that was raised will be donated to Coventry Mencap & Wayfarers Club.
In conjunction, the tenacious group also gathered £120 worth of sponsorship with the help of two local pubs, The Craven Arms and Nursery Tavern. The total paid for 12 boxes of food, which will be split equally between Coventry Foodbank and Coven try Open Christmas.

“I would like to thank all the people who made donations. They have allowed us to gift many items to Coventry Foodbank and Open Christmas and I’m sure they will be gratefully received by lots people throughout the city.”
