Hereward raise money helping Christmas shoppers

Hereward College in Coventry will receive a special visit from Team GB’s Handball captain Bobby White after winning an Active Colleges competition.

A fundraising bagpack at Morrisons saw staff and students spread a little bit of Christmas cheer around the Alvis Retail Park store on Monday 16th December.

Hereward College were raising money for their Friends of Hereward charity, which exists to further educational aspirations through extra equipment and opportunities. Raising over £750 the money will go towards student outbound trips to Ghyll Head and Calvert Trust in the New Year.

Hereward offers inclusive provision with specialist facilities for learners with a wide range of learning difficulties and/or physical disabilities. Its key objective is to enable learners to achieve academic and vocational qualifications, and to develop the necessary independence skills to support a successful transition to adulthood and, where possible, employment. Hereward delivers a vast range of opportunities from independence training to social skills, putting the young person first.

Progress Coach Mandy Price said

“I’m so pleased with the efforts the students made to help the busy Christmas shoppers. The money that we’ve raised means such a lot and we’re really grateful to everyone who was kind enough to donate.”

“We’re also very appreciative to Morrisons for having us and Acorn Printing who supplied us with our branded t-shirts”.
