Hereward hosts regional housekeeping competition

Hereward College hosted a housekeeping competition for students from Hereward and Derwen College in Shropshire as part of a series of regional Inclusive Skills Competitions.

Inclusive skills competitions are supported by Natspec (National Association of Specialist Colleges) and take place at various colleges across the region during the summer term.

Five teams of Entry Level 2 students worked in teams to showcase their hospitality skills and present a bedroom to hotel level standard within an hour.

The competition was judged by Angela Jaquiss, National Secretary of the UK Housekeepers Association and Stephen Hammon, Managing Director of Heart of England Conference Centre who awarded first prize to Sophie Marsh and Hannah Weaver from Hereward College (pictured).

Lisa Morgan, Area Supervisor for Elite Cleaning & Environmental Services who provided essential material and support on the day said:

“The students have done a fantastic job today and it has been great to see them managing their time and working so hard and well in their teams. They are an absolute credit to the college.”
