Local councillors joined Hereward students to take part in a ‘wheelchair experience’ to get a taste of some of the frustrations and issues faced by young people with disabilities.
The students discussed some of the key areas which affect them and took Councillors Patricia Seamen, Pete Male and Richard Brown on a challenging tour around the grounds of the Tile Hill based college visiting all areas including the sports hall, therapies department, classrooms and residential accommodation.
Sheila Fleming, Principal says:
“It is has been a fantastic opportunity for the councillors to find out more about the lives of the young people at Hereward and what we do to prepare them for the next stage of their lives.
They gained a real insight into a whole range of challenges our young people face on a daily basis in order to get the education and equality they deserve.”
